Someone asked on another website I was on if believing in Jesus Christ was the only way to heaven. Belief in Jesus does not guarantee that you will enter heaven, for even the demons believe in Him, and shuddder! Not only do you need to believe, but you need to follow His example. His example was to show mercy, compassion, and understanding to the people, all people, no matter what their faith, even including those who do not ascribe to one.
The teachings of my faith explain that Jesus, when He died upon the Cross Atoned for the sin of every human being from the beginning of creation on down thru the eternities allowing them the ability to return to the Presence of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ if they live the teachings of the Gospel, if they do not, but are good moral people, or if they have never heard the gospel, then they will be judged for what they knew and what they did with what they knew and how they treated their fellow man. This is how Grace and Justice are both met in the one act. Heavenly Father had all of our sins atoned for by Christ on the Cross, and He is the ultimate judge....not any human; therefore, no human has the right to say that definitely you cannot get to heaven unless you believe in this specific way of thinking.
We have the scriptures and the ability to pray for ourselves to receive revelation for our own lives, we have a mind so that we can reason for ourselves, and we are a social people, therefore we gather into communites of faith in order to help encourage and strengthen one another.
A statement I made another time was that in the OLD TESTAMENT it states that the LORD confused the languages of the peoples at the Tower of Babel. With this understanding, one person may call their God, Allah, while another calls him Yahweh, and still another mi DIOS!!! It matters not what language you use, they all mean GOD (In reference to Heavenly Father)
What this nation was founded on was not freedom FROM religion, but freedom OF religion, so I cannot tell the Muslim that he cannot face the east as he prays to His God in his ascribed form a worship, and they cannot tell me that I cannot call on the name of Jesus Christ in my prayers! That the Jews have every right to worship in synagouge on the Sabbath, which is Fri night to Sat Sundown instead of making them worship on a Sunday which is the day of celebration for most christian denominations.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, it does not matter to me if I know you or not, and I will be as honest and truthful as I can, and will back everything I say to you up with scriptures from the Bible. One of the great things about the LDS church is that all the members are encouraged to search the scriptures for themselves, so if I do not know the answer, I will research it until I do, and then get back to you!
God Bless!
