The Passing of Gordon B Hinckley

As I have noted on my biography, I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Last night, the world was informed at the passing of our dear president and prophet, Gordon B Hinckley. I enjoyed listening to his explanations of the plain and simple things of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and knew from the first time I heard him that I was listening to a true follower of Jesus Christ, an honest and sincere Man of God. If you have not had the pleasure of reading his teachings, go to http://www.lds.org and look for articles in our library online to read anything you can find from him. There are recordings of conference talks and their are magazine articles he has written that explain and inspire everyone to live worthily for Christ.
After hearing of my beloved prophets passing, I wrote the following in his honor. I hope that it cheers the LDS members to remember him and honor him. God Bless.
The Prophet Returns
By Angela M Working

A man of faith and virtue
A man of love and peace
He binds the wounds and heals you
He bids your sorrows cease
With a smile and wink he greets you
Friend or stranger alike
As long as you're with him
You feel the LORD's Love, Grace, and Light
Darkness veils my eyes
My prophet found his way
Grief fills the earth because
the LORD called him home today
The angels in heaven rejoice
as they lead my prophet home
as the sons of men grieve
for their beloved one
Silence fills the night sky
Stillness in the air
All of creation cries
He'll be missed everywhere
Tears of sorrow at his passing
Silent grief and pain
Will one day turn to rejoicing
when he returns with Christ to reign!
My heart goes out to the family, and also to the Counselors and Apostles, and all who were
closest to him. May God grant each of us grace and peace as we say goodbye to our beloved leader, prophet, and dearest friend. God Bless! ~Angela

Blessings

It is written in the Book of Malichi that if you pay your tithes that the LORD will open the floodgates of Heaven in blesings for you; I have always believed that those blessings were to be spiritual in nature; until recently!!

I am a faithful tithe payer, but recently with a change in employment and being out of work for a couple of weeks, things got to be a little tight financially. I made a decision that I would pay my tithe no matter how tight the money looked and know that somehow everything would work out. I am writing to tell you tonight that the LORD keeps His promises, even those written thousands of years ago. He honors those who honor Him, and I am so thankful for the blessings I have received within the past couple of weeks.

First, as I wrote in my previous post, I have finally got a direction from the LORD about moving out of state and planning for the move in advance. But I was wondering how I was going to save, and more importantly, how was I going to be able to make ends meet when it seemed that everything was gone before I even received it? Well, my hours at work have increased dramatically. Not only that, but my car will be paid off next month, AND my car insurance premium will drop over $100.00 for the next pay cycle due to my good driving record!
This relief couldn't come at a better time!

Some would say that all of these are coincidences and has nothing to do with God:
But I tell you honestly and truthfully that Coincidences are when GOD wants to remain Anonymous! When you love GOD with all your heart, mind, soul and strength; you live a life that will bear testimony of Him. As you honor Him in everything and do as you would do in His presence at all times, the burdens you have will be lifted.

Granted, most of the time the LORD will bless you with patience to endure suffering, and wisdom, peace in the midst of trial, and other spiritual attributes, but I now understand that occasionally, when your need is great, and when you least expect it, that if you continue to pay your tithe, the LORD has given a promise that He is bound to you, and that He will bless you in all ways, and that not only means spiritual maturity, but it also means that your temporal needs will be met in a way that you least expect it! When you feel that things are coming to an end....

For quite a while now, I have felt in my heart that things within my life were coming to an end....I do not mean as far as being suicidal or depressed, but that things as I know them are on the verge of not being as I know them.... There is a saying that my mother told meyears ago:
"When God closes a door, He always opens a window!!" I knew things were drawing to a close with my employment and that I felt deep inside that I will have to leave my family and place I had grown up in since childhood, but the part that gave me the most anxiety was that I did not know where or why or even how I would make it...

I am glad to relate to you tonight the miracle that has happened in my life. My employment with the company I have worked for since 2003 ended shortly before Christmas. I had a nice time with my family before starting work with a seasonal position, and now, I am certain that I will be leaving this area within a rather short 2 or 3 year at the most time table. I am in the beginning stages of planning and saving the money in order to take the long journey from the Mid West to UT. I am a member of the LDS Church, and have been since my two friends and brothers in the Church introduced me to the Truth of the Fulness of the Gospel and the revelations of Joseph Smith, JR the founder and Prophet that was appointed by GOD to open these the Last Days. I know that this journey is necessary not only for my faith, but for me to continue to progress, learn and grow not only with my Faith and Relationship with Christ, but as a person as well.

I am so excited that I have a goal and a clear direction in my heart, mind and spirit. It is so freeing when you have a destination in mind. IF you have no direction within your heart and mind, no goal or focus on, you become depressed. If you are depressed, or feel a little unclear as to what your direction is to be, then please, pray it through, the answer may not come immediately overnight, but as you seek your path will become clearer. Remember faith isn't faith unless it is all you are hanging on to. A trial of your faith will help you develop your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father as you seek them in humble prayer and learn howto receive from them guidance by the Holy Ghost.
I hope this helps someone out there. Remember that the scriptures state that you are to "ask, and it'll be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you" but notice that you have to put effort into these actions, you have to ask, you have to actively look for the answer and seek, you have to go and pound on the door and knock, and most likely, you can't just do so once and find the answer, but continue to search diligently...
I hope these little insights encourage someone to not give up, and set a plan into motion, set goals to know that you are attaining the steps you desire to take.
God Bless!
