Genealogy - Your ancestors in History

As some of you may know, one aspect of the Latter Day Saint faith is to do research about your family and their personal history. I like to know not only their names, but also a little about them. I have been blessed to discover that I am a descendant and relation to several movers and shakers of the past as well as from a royal blood line. This helped me immensely personally because I had struggled with the question "Who am I?" for years, and although I am still discovering the answer to that question, a part of the answer has been, for me anyway, to look into the past and see the family members from which I come from...something that had been lost for generations, or a fact that only a few elderly members of the family knew.

I am grateful to have the honor of becoming the historian of my generation for my family, and even if you are not a member of the LDS Church, I encourage you for your own personal reflection and sense of gratitude to research your own family lines and learn of your ancestors. There is a blessing in the book of Malichi that refers to 'the hearts of the children will return to their fathers and the hearts of the fathers to their children' It is a commandment in the Old Testament, therefore should be honored not only in LDS, but other denominations and religions as well.

May the Lord of Heaven bless your efforts to learn of your roots, as well as your family.

God Bless!

Thought for the Day

The following quote is from a calendar that was given to me last year for Christmas, that was homemade by friends.
"Poise is defined as the art of raising the eyebrows instead of the roof."
I went to get some lunch before going into work this afternoon, and a gentleman was looking at my food not certain what was on my plate (it was a country fried steak with white gravy) He apologized for staring and asked what I had and I told him. Again he apologized and I said "It's quite alright, sir" He got a little frumpled and said, "I'm not used to people calling me 'sir'; but I guess I'm old enough to start expecting it more." I replied, "To me the word 'sir' has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with respect." He said, "well, people don't give that type of respect very much around here anymore." I told him to have a nice day.
It is sad, that the people in my area are called out for simple act of kindnesses and treating others, even strangers with dignity. What used to be the norm in proper communications is becoming obsolete and being replaced with profanity and gross indifference for humankind.
It is my hope that this post will remind others to treat all people with the dignity and respect with which they would want to be treated.
Have a blessed weekend!

The Challenge

My dear friends and bloggers..I have a challenge for you, it is not something I thought up, actually the credit goes to Oprah Winfrey. Although I do not watch her on a regular basis, her challenge of being someone's angel of mercy has touched my life. One day as I was working a couple of years ago at a McDonald's Drive -Thru, a client in the drive-thru noticed the car behind hers was not in the best of shape. She, having a nicer vehicle took notice of their meager means and told me when she got to the window that she wanted to be someone's angel as Oprah had described on her show about showing kindness and giving to those in need without them necessarily knowing about it. She decided to pay for the young family's meal and for me to put it on her card and then wave them on thru. All she asked that I say to the family was to tell them Merry Christmas!

Today, I was at work at another restaurant when a driver's car got stuck in our drive thru. I went to my car in effort to jump hers off. Unfortunately for her, the problem was not the battery. The young woman looked stress and as if she was about to cry. I sat down with her for a couple of minutes and told her a couple of good mechanics she could go to that she could trust. I then told her that if her ride was not there by the time that I got off work I would gladly take her home. I told her not to worry that it would all work out, and to be thankful that she wasn't out of town when the car broke down or that she wasn't hurt in any way, it was a machine and can be fixed or replaced. She thanked me for my kindness and her ride showed up in plenty of time to take her home.

My challenge to everyone who cares to take it, is don't wait until the holidays to spread kindness and help to a person in need. I'm not saying to go out and purposely look for some stranger to help, but at the same time, I am saying that when the opportunity to help arises, then takethe initiative and help them, if you are able. Do not give your last dollar so that you don't havea meal for yourself in the morning, but do what you can in order to help.
I did have the misfortune that I had friend that was in need of groceries, and I did not have the money to feed her family because I hadn't been paid in three weeks due to a job change and my means were not enough to give to them and manage my own household, so I gave her the number to First Call for Help, United Way and another local organization that helps in those types of situations. Unfortunately, she was offended and angry because I didn't just give her money or the groceries and told me that if she had been of my faith, I would have had no problem just giving her the money. I am a single woman, and she has a family of three to feed. My income would not allow for me to offer her the assistance that she was demanding.
I am not saying to give until it hurts financially, I am saying to help a neighbor carry groceries into their home. Listen to a stranger that you perceive is upset. You may not be able to help their situation, but you could show some compassion and listen for a couple of minutes, maybe even give them an idea or two about how to fix their situation, or the number to the organization that would be able to render them some assistance.
Not everyone is in a bad way, but random acts of kindnesses to those that you see you could help, brings a smile not only to your face, but to theirs as well. This challenge is not for the holidays only, it is for everyday of the year! Think it's a good idea? Tell others about this challenge and pass it on!
Good Luck and God Bless to everyone willing to make someone smile today!

Hello Again!

Sorry so long since my last post on this page. I have been blogging with the schmibrosblog quite a bit and haven't really put much time into this one. I will try and do a better job in the near future!

I hope this blog finds everyone well and happy! I am currently reading a book by Joyce Meyer called "Battlefield of the Mind" Basically it is a book about the power of positive thinking and is full of scriptures from the Bible. Very well put together, and speaks of speaking life and peace not only into your own life, but into the lives of those around you. How to not let someone else's bad attitude ruin your day. Anda reminder that there is an enemy of our souls that will do anything to keep us miserable.

I would like to add that although we need to be mindful that the devil exists, I have personally found it to be very harmful to try and focus too much attention on the devil's war methods. There are some sects of christians that say that you have to know the mind of the devil in order to protect yourself. I disagree. I know for a fact from personal experience that overfocusing on the enemy will eventually get your eyes off of the Master and Saviour of us all and could prove to be not only emotionally but even physically harmful for all involved.
It is by far more important to keep your focus on Christ and Heavenly Father. Jesus won the battle on the Cross, and now all I have to do is walk in the light of His Love for me. I am not saying to be ignorant. But I am saying that the LORD inhabits the praises of His people. Not only our prayers, but our songs of praise and adoration. Even sacrificial praises, when you really don't feel like giving Him your love, to do so anyway. He will help and guide you thru the dark times in your life, and may make the load seem lighter to you, but HE will not always immediately take it from you because there is something for you to learn from the experience.
So, if the devil knocks on your door; just say, "Jesus, could you get that for me, please?" In other words, have your heart, mind, and spirit so focused on the LORD that you don't have time to mess with satan and his games. You will discover that while you are so focused on Christ that if the enemy does try and come to call, the Spirit of the LORD will guide and protect you.
God Bless!

New Business, New Life!

I recently started work with a local bank, as I stated in my earlier post; but now I am excited because of the LTD Marketing Team that I have recently become an Independent Agent for.
The team offers the ability to become financially independent as you work with e-commerce and a team that helps you to learn and grow. This is a Christian based organization, and the earning potential is astronomical.
I personally have 3 websites that I encourage anyone on here to look under the catagory that best fits your needs.
1) This one is for women interested in make-up, facial cleansers, toners and any and everything in between.
2) This one is for men and women that are active and are looking for healthy ways to boost their energy before or after a workout. Watch for the "Perfect " water to come unto the market soon on this site, it is molecularized H2O6 that with 2 oz and 5 seconds can improve your flexibility! Don't believe me? thry it for yourself when the product comes on the scene!
3) Need to buy a gift but don't know what they want? Check out this site! We will send the recepient a gift card that does not have the dollar amount on the face of it, they will receive a booklet with items in the priceline that you selected, and they can choose their gift, call it in or order it online, and it is shipped right to their door within a week....They never know the cost to you, and they receive it quickly! Price range anywhere from $15.00- $7500.00! Check out the type of items that you could have them choose from! Great gifts for all ages, and even good for co-workers!
Thanks for your interest! Happy Shopping!

Changes of Life

I recently went through a lay off from work. The position I had was seasonal in nature, but the experience it gave me I knew in my heart would open doors for me to actually enter into the business world. Although after the lay off I was out of work for over a month, I did get a position with the local bank, and I am currently in training for a entry level position, and they will help with education assistance in order for me to continue my education as long as my studies are related to the banking industry.

Sometimes in the midst of change, you cannot see the next step in front of your feet. The path is unknown, and the world is vast. But we have choices, and God will not circumvent our own agency, He wants us to love Him and keep His commandments out of love and respect for Him, not fear. We are His sons and daughters, not slaves....The scriptures reiterate over and over again the message of love that He has for us. He draws us by His Spirit, and will protect and guide us IF we ask Him to do so, but if we choose to go our own way, HE waits for us to return, but ultimately it is our own choices that determines our destiny. Remember, Jesus Died on the Cross for the sins of the world. We are judged therefore, for what we knew and what we did with our own understanding and how we treated our fellow man, even the ones who treated us with reviling and disrespect.
One of my Favorite poems is GOD KNOWS BEST by HELEN STEINER RICE; I will enter it here as my closing:
Our Father knows what's best for us,
So why should we complain-
We always want the sunshine,
But He knows there must be rain-
We love the sound of laughter
And the merriment of cheer,
But our hearts would lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear...
Our Father tests us often
With Suffering and with sorrow,
He tests us , not to punish us,
But to help us meet tomorrow....
For growing trees are strengthened
When they withstand the storm,
And the sharp cut of the chisel
Gives the marbel grace and form...
God never hurts us needlessly,
And He never wastes our pain,
For every loss He sends to us
Is followed by rich gain...
And when we count our blessings
That God has so freely sent,
We will find no cause for murmuring
And no time to lament...
For our Father loves His children,
And to Him all things are plain,
So He never sends us pleasure
When our soul's deep need is PAIN....
So whenever we are troubled,
And when everything goes wrong,
It is just God working in us
To make our spirits strong.
